Mission

The Generator Technician is responsible for the assembly, testing, and technical support of generator sets, both in the workshop and at customer sites. This includes on-site technical assistance, preventive and corrective maintenance, fault diagnosis, and repairs.

The role ensures all equipment is assembled and tested according to manufacturer standards and operates reliably in the field, contributing to customer satisfaction and service excellence.

Main Responsibilities

Assembly and Preparation (Workshop)

  • Assemble generator sets and associated components in accordance with manufacturer procedures and technical documentation.
  • Install mechanical and electrical components, including control panels, wiring, and auxiliary systems.
  • Ensure all assembly work complies with quality standards and specifications.
  • Prepare equipment for testing and delivery.
  • Identify and report any technical issues, non-conformities, or deviations during assembly.

Testing and Quality Control

  • Perform functional and operational testing of generator sets prior to delivery;
  • Conduct and support load testing to ensure compliance with specifications;
  • Identify, diagnose, and rectify faults detected during testing;
  • Complete all testing procedures and documentation;
  • Prepare test reports and quality records.

Field Service and Maintenance

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on generator sets at customer sites;
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and control system faults;
  • Carry out repairs, adjustments, and component replacements;
  • Ensure compliance with service schedules and contractual requirements;
  • Respond to service calls and provide timely technical support.

Technical Support

  • Provide technical support to customers and internal teams;
  • Assist in troubleshooting complex technical issues;
  • Support After Sales in resolving customer complaints or warranty issues;
  • Provide feedback on recurring faults and product improvements.

Quality and Safety Compliance

  • Follow all health and safety regulations and company procedures;
  • Ensure correct use and maintenance of tools and equipment;
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment (workshop and site) ;
  • Report safety risks, incidents, and non-compliance.

Documentation and Reporting

  • Complete service reports, test reports, and job cards accurately;
  • Record faults, repairs, parts used, and time spent;
  • Ensure proper documentation for all field and workshop activities;
  • Provide regular feedback to supervisors on technical issues and improvements.

Customer Interaction

  • Maintain a professional and customer-focused approach on-site;
  • Communicate clearly with customers regarding technical issues and solutions;
  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction during service interventions;
  • Escalate complex issues when necessary.

Profile

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in generator assembly, testing, or field service (or similar industrial equipment);
  • Experience with diesel generators, control panels, and electrical systems is highly preferred;
  • Proven experience in troubleshooting, fault diagnosis, and repair activities;
  • Experience in both workshop and field service environments will be an advantage.

Technical Skills

  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and electrical diagrams;
  • Knowledge of mechanical and electrical assembly processes;
  • Understanding of testing procedures and quality standards;
  • Basic computer skills for reporting and documentation.

Soft Skills

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills;
  • Attention to detail and quality-oriented mindset;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Good communication skills, especially when interacting with customers on-site;
  • Sense of responsibility and reliability.

  • Commitment to health and safety standards.

Academic Background

  • Technical diploma or certification in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, or a related field;
  • Trade qualification (e.g., Electrical or Mechanical Artisan) is highly advantageous;
  • Additional training or certifications in generator systems, diesel engines, or control systems will be considered a plus.
